Was he alright? Dean wasn’t even sure how to answer this as soon as the question was posed. He had remembered their hunt, sure. But why was coming home a blank? — The fact that he wouldn’t have even picked up on this missing chunk of time if he hadn’t found the tacos worried him only more. Maybe what they were dealing with on this case was worse than he thought. He paused eating his food to look to his brother.
“I thought I was. —Now I don’t know anymore.”
Rocking forward slightly in his seat, amber eyes narrowed in on his brother to observe his demeanor. He seemed fine all afternoon, but now he was beginning to notice the crimson strokes that decorated his cheeks. A rogue hand reached out to touch the older Winchester’s forehead and quickly pulled back at the temperature. Not only was Dean extremely warm, he was unnaturally so.
❝Dude, did you eat anything or see anything when I wasn’t around?
[ In Dean’s mind, yesterday could have been four days ago the way things ran together. ]
❝Dude — I could have choked on those. Why don’t I remember buying tacos?❞
[ A better question was why he hadn’t eaten them all already? ]
❝I don’t know, Dean.
——-are you feeling alright?❞
The more he looked at his brother, the more his mind wondered. Arching a dark brow, Sam tilted his head to the side slightly in thought. It was literally only mere hours ago that they were at the store. There was no logical explanation for him not remembering their trip. After everything that’d happened with them, he’d formed a habit of always expecting the worse. Plus, if he really did remember them buying tacos, he likely would have finished them off last night when they returned to the motel room.
